The story of Stella McCartney is like a picture book. Born in 1971, the daughter of ex-Beatles Paul McCartney studied at London’s St. Martins College of Art & Design. In 1997, two years after graduating, Chloé brought the then 25 year old to Paris as head designer in the hope that McCartney would be able to restore the fashion house to its former glory. Since the 60s and 70s, when Chloé was at its peak, the label had retired and critics blasphemed that at least the famous last name of the new chief designer would mean a boost to the top. But McCartney proved that her talent is her capital and managed to regain Chloé’s position in the upper echelons of fashion labels at the turn of the millennium.
