Thom Browne who never completed an apprenticeship in fashion, was hired by Club Monaco as a menswear designer, where he remained until 2001. In the same year he designed five grey men’s suits in collaboration with the New York tailor Rocco Ciccarelli, which he sold to friends and acquaintances, rented a showroom with borrowed money in the Meatpacking District and developed a men’s collection in the top price segment until 2003. In 2003, Browne founded the company Thom Browne, Inc. and opened his own store in Manhattan. From 2004 onwards, he showed his collections in presentations at New York Fashion Week. The American designer is no longer to be thought of in the fashion world today. With his designs and cuts he has made a name for himself in men’s fashion and stands for figure-hugging, tight cuts.
