Vetements The Story Behind The Crazy Brand

In March 2015, Demna Gvasalia already set the tone with the location of his Vetements show, where Vetements would go: he showed in the basement of the Parisian sex club Le Depot, the most important fashion journalists came as well as Kanye West (who has always been a good barometer of the mood when it comes to which designers would be influential in the future) – and this even though Vetements did not win the LVMH Prize in 2014, but only made it to the semi-finals.

Nevertheless, the Autumn/Winter 2015/16 collection was probably the coolest of the season, picking up a look worn on the street and revolutionizing the high-fashion world. Many of the trends that had been dominant over the past four years had their origins here: the combination of the official and the sporty, the romantic and the hard; the oversized proportions, the strange cuts that at first glance looked as if something was wrong with them. And many later trend pieces were already on display – for example oversized bomber jackets and platform boats.
